Ibadan Residents Commends Governor Makinde, Oyo APM Leaders Over Disqualification of Kewulere
..raises alarm over threat to life.
Some residents of ward 5 in Ibadan north east local government area of Oyo State has commended the state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde and leaders of the Allied People’s Movement, (APM) over the disqualification of the current councillor in the ward, Hon Oyelakin Kewulere.
They gave this commendation while speaking with this reporter in Ibadan on Friday.
The residents said they had informed some leaders of the area before now over the poor performance of the legislator but nothing was done adding that they also deserved better representation in their ward.
They said the people in the local government have a fundamental right to demand accountability, and visible development from their elected local government councillors.
“When good representation fails, peaceful mobilisation and community action serve as direct tools to challenge empty promises and push for grassroot progress.
“Councillors manage the closest tier of government to the people, directly influencing local growth among others, but we had never had it fair with Hon Kewulere as our representative.”
The residents also alleged that the councillor has been harrasing some of the residents who he claimed are not supporting him in his bid for second term.
“Oyelakin Kewulere is not loyal to the party, he did not bring any devidends of democracy to the people who voted for him.
“As a disloyal party reptesentative, he is working wth his brothet who is an accord party candidate to denied the party of victory.”
The people added that the councillor had been boasting of eliminating notable sons and daughters of the area because of his failed ambition.
The residents then called on relevant security agents to immediately ensure the arrest of Kewulere before any harm is done to the people.
The residents then thanked the governor and leadership of APM in Oyo state for giving the a quality and people friendly candidate, Hon Idris Babatunde Akimsola, who they described as a symbol of performance who will bring them the expected dividends of democracy.
Others who had joined Kewulere in the act of disturbing public peace in the local government and who had bwen threatening lives committed party members includes Taofeek Yusuf Lori Omun , kazeem Olaniyan, Seye Omotajo, Ismail Arole,Olugbenga and Rahman Fagbola.
