Ogun State has intensified its drive to attract global investments and strategic development partnerships, as the State showcased its expanding economic opportunities and investment-friendly environment at the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) Side Event, holding in New York, United States of America.

At the event convened on the margins of the UNGA to explore innovative financing mechanisms for climate action and SDG acceleration across the Global South, the Nigeria’s growing commitment to climate governance, climate financing and the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was commended while the country’s efforts, described as evidence of increased political will and strengthening of its climate governance architecture.

Representing Ogun State at the high-level engagement, is the Special Adviser to the Governor on Development Partners Coordination, Dr. Bayo Adenekan, who highlighted clear vision of Dapo Abiodun led admin delivered through ISEYA Pillars and the State’s growing infrastructure, industrial clusters, agricultural potential and economic reforms, describing them as key drivers of sustainable development and investment, ranking the State as the most industrialized with increased revenue base of minimum 250 billion as at Dec. 2025.

Adenekan said Ogun State was strategically positioned to deepen collaboration with international development partners, investors and other stakeholders in order to unlock its vast economic potential and create opportunities for sustainable growth. He identified agriculture, infrastructure, innovation, climate and green financing, youth empowerment and artificial intelligence as priority areas seeking stronger partnerships to further accelerate growing developments across the state.

According to him, strategic collaboration between government, investors and development institutions remains critical to addressing emerging development challenges while creating opportunities for young people, businesses and communities.

He also underscored the importance of innovative financing mechanisms, particularly climate and green financing, in line with FG priorities and also supporting infrastructure development and building a more resilient and sustainable economy. The event provides an opportunity for Ogun State to strengthen relationships with potential investors and development partners as is the case in the last 4 year on year at UNGA, while projecting its economic opportunities on the global stage to partners as to giant strides of Governor Dapo Abiodun in the last 7 years and still counting.

He further delivered Prince (Dr) Dapo Abiodun Administration’s ‘Achievements brochure’ on the behalf of His Excellency to the Permanent Representative and Ambassador of Nigeria to UN, Jimoh Ibrahim, who also promised to extend the brochure as reference points at the United Nations, Nigeria Office and the Nigeria Permanent Mission for records and as an investments guide. This, according to him, aligns with Nigeria’s Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs), the Paris Agreement and its obligations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), maintaining that the strategies could be put in place to further make Nigeria attract green bonds, carbon-credit investments and climate-adaptation financing.
