An Ibadan based elderstateman and property merchant, Alhaji Sufianu Kazeem, has cautions Vice President Atiku Abubakar to desist from insulting the Southwest region through President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for selfish political gains.
Alhaji Kazeem, who is also a former close associate with late MKO Abiola, made the statement on Thursday, condemned several comments credited to the former Vice President recently, adding that they can best be described as hate speech.
Condemning Atiku’s remarks on some of the good works of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Su-Kazeem described the remarks as a desperate attempt to exploit a sensitive national issue for partisan political advantage.
In his reaction to Atiku’s criticism of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Alhaji Kazeem said it was unfortunate that a statesman of Atiku’s standing chose to preach hate speech which has been outlawed by the government and downplay the heroic efforts of the Nigeria leader simply to score cheap political points against the President.
“Recently, Atiku made a comment about the rescued Orire abductee. every patriotic Nigerian should be celebrating the success of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Atiku has once again demonstrated that his primary interest is not national unity or security but how to convert every national development into a political campaign.”
Alhaji Kazeem also faulted the plan reversal of subsudy by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar if elected as the President of Nigeria as fraudulent and unacceptable
He added that Atiku Abubakar is not fit to be elected as President of Nigeria owing to his dishonesty and unstatesmanship of Atiku Abubakar.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has consistently strengthened the capacity of our armed forces, and the increasing successes being recorded against terrorists, kidnappers, and criminal elements are clear evidence that his administration is making measurable progress.
“What Nigerians expect from opposition leaders is constructive support, not relentless cynicism and hate speech whenever the country records security victories.”
“This is precisely the kind of divisive politics Nigerians have rejected. National security should never become a tool for opposition propaganda,” the statement reads.
Nevertheless, the group called on all political leaders across party lines to rise above partisan interests and support the collective efforts of government and security agencies in confronting insecurity in the country.
Alhaji Kazeem re-affirmed his confidence in President Tinubu’s leadership, calling on Nigerians to continue to support the nation’s security institutions in the fight against terrorism, banditry, and kidnapping
