Lagelu Indigene’s Club Mourns Late Abese Olubadan, Lekan Alabi

The leadership of the Lagelu Indigene’s Club has mourned the passage of the late Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi.

‘It is with a heavy heart and rude shock that we received the passing of *Oloye Lekan Alabi, Abese Olubadan of Ibadanland*.

Baba died on Saturday, 1st August, 2026, at the age of 76 years and was buried on Sunday, 2nd August, 2026, according to the Islamic rites at the  Eternal Rest Home, Fiditi.

Oloye was more than a Chief. He was *Ibadan’s memory keeper*.
A renowned journalist. A fearless advocate. A cultural icon. A man of integrity with zero controversy.
He spoke for Ibadan. He lived Ibadan. He defended Ibadan.

_“When an elder dies, a library burns”_ and today, Ibadanland has lost a whole library.

We condole with *Kabiyesi Olubadan, Oba Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja Arusa 1st, the Olubadan-in-Council, the CCII, all Traditional Rulers of Lagelu Local Government*, and the family of our departed father.”

May Allah accept his soul and grant him *Al-Jannah Firdaus*.
_Sun re o, Akin Ibadan.  Akogun ti Lalupon, Abese Olubadan ti Ile Ibadan.
