The six students, all 500-level candidates in the institution’s Open and Distance Learning Bachelor of Nursing Science programme, reportedly died in the accident while heading to Ogbomoso, Oyo State, for what was meant to be the concluding phase of their academic journey.
Among them was a student said to be heavily pregnant at the time of the crash, compounding the anguish surrounding the tragedy. Olaoluwa, a 2027 governorship aspirant in Oyo State commiserates with the management of the institution, deceased family members and close associate.
He stated that a very bad incident like this is a reminder that life is transient and we should all live a life of purpose while we are all here. “It’s sad and difficult to bear the death of our kinsmen during a tragic accident that claimed their lives in their prime. It was devastating and hard to swallow, but we know God knows best.
“My heart and that of my family are with the families of the deceased with an assurance that they will never be alone at this very critical time. Our consolation lies in the fact that they had live a life for others as nurses and care-givers. “We pray for the repose of their souls and strength for their families and loved ones at this time.”
