Fuel Crisis Hits Ibadan Metropolis, As Petrol Price Rises To N1,080 per litre in Ibadan
..stations now exploit customers
In what many termed as an unusual experience in the last three years, petrol is now becoming unavailable across petrol stations in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.
Queues have re-emerged at most filling stations in Ibadan with the pump price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), otherwise known as petrol, now selling between N1,020 and N1,080 per litre.
This reporter went in search of the product and drove round the city early Saturday morning only to purchase at a price, not measuring up with the selling price.
At a petrol station around Samonda in Ibadan, there were lines of motorcycles, tricycles, and taxis, agitating to buy fuel.
At the station, a litre of fuel is sold at 1000. This reporter bought petrol of 25, 000, but the pump reads only 23 litres, meaning the pump had been readjusted due to the current situation.
Transport fares from one location to another have recorded a slight increase.
It was gathered that the rise in transportation costs has also affected other routes across the city.
Motorists have also begun moving around the city with jerry cans in search of petrol.
Most filling stations that were previously dispensing fuel to motorists in the early hours of the day yesterday, Friday, have now been placed under lock and key.
