“Demand An Apology From Igbinedion” Ologududu Tells Alaafin
Popular Yoruba poet, Kunle Ologundudu, has urged the Alaafin of Oyo to demand an apology from Gabriel Igbinedion within 48 hours, similar to the ultto the Ooni of Ife.
Ologundudu, a renowned Yoruba artist, urged Oba Akeem Owoade, the Alaafin of Oyo, to request an apology from Gabriel Igbinedion,a chief from Edo State, for allegedly disrespecting the Alaafin during his birthday celebration in Edo last weekend.
Ologundudu noted that Igbinedion allegedly instructed the Alaafin to stand up so he could sit down, which the Alaafin reportedly did, despite previously declaring that he cannot stand for anyone.
Ologundudu pointed out the inconsistency in Alaafin’s actions, highlighting that he stood up for an ordinary chief rather than a king.
Ologundudu has given Igbinedion a 48-hour ultimatum to apologize, drawing parallels with a similar incident involving the Ooni of Ife, where the kabiesi Alaafin issued a deadline for kabiesi OONI
He criticized the kabiesi Alaafin for failing to assert himself during the incident.
Ologundudu emphasized that any disrespect towards the Alaafin is a slight on the Yoruba people and culture, and has called on Igbinedion to apologize to the people of Oyo and the Alaafin
