Few hours after the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun dismissed the rumour making rounds that he is insisting on a particular candidate for a coveted royal stool of Awujale of Ijebuland, Governor Abiodun on Monday visited the Ijebu Ode residence of Onabanjo’s.
Abiodun like others before him paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Chief (Mrs.) Lucia Onabowale Onabanjo, wife of revered former Governor, Chief Olabisi Onabanjo, at Ijebu-Ode, to commiserate with them and share in their moment of grief.
The governor during the visit said Mama Lucia’s passing at the age of 101 marks the end of a truly glorious era.
‘She lived an exemplary, fulfilled, and distinguished life devoted to God, family, and service to humanity.
Mama stood firmly by her husband through his historic struggles for democracy, human rights, and social justice and was a constant source of strength, prayer, and encouragement to many.
“Though the loss of a mother is always deeply painful, regardless of age, we also celebrate her long, impactful journey and the enduring legacy of love, faith, and commitment to progress that she leaves behind.
“We commiserate with the entire Onabanjo family, even as we thank God for the great gift Mama was to all of us. We will miss her warmth, her wise counsel, and her prayers. May the Almighty God grant her eternal rest and grant her family, friends, and associates the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
