Kingsmen Archery Team Dominates Zen Archery Lagos International Open 3.0, Signals Rising Strength of Oyo
The Kingsmen Archery Team delivered a remarkable performance at the recently concluded Zen Archery Lagos International Open Tournament 3.0, establishing itself as one of the competition’s most formidable teams after a dominant showing in the highly competitive 30-meter Barebow category.
The team’s impressive medal haul not only underscored its growing reputation on the national archery scene but also highlighted the rapid development of archery in Oyo State, which continues to produce talented athletes capable of competing and winning at the highest levels.
With gold and silver medals across individual and team events, Kingsmen’s performance served as a strong statement of intent and a testament to the progress being made in the sport within the state.
The Zen Archery Lagos International Open Tournament has become one of Nigeria’s most respected archery competitions, attracting elite archers, emerging talents from across Africa, with representatives from Chan, Zimbabwe, Cote-D’ivoire,Guinee and clubs from Nigeria.
The tournament provides athletes with a platform to test their skills against top-level competition while contributing to the growth and visibility of archery in Nigeria and Africa.Against this backdrop of intense competition, the Kingsmen Archery Team rose above the challenge with a series of outstanding performances that left a lasting impression on spectators, officials, and fellow competitors alike.
Leading the charge was the exceptional Saka Habibat Abiola, who emerged as the undisputed star of the 30-meter Barebow female category. Demonstrating remarkable focus, precision, and consistency throughout the competition, Habibat secured the gold medal in the Individual Female event, finishing ahead of a strong field of competitors and her teammate and namesake.
In what proved to be a memorable day for the team, fellow Kingsmen archer Habeebat Otunbade claimed the silver medal in the same category, giving the team a one-two finish and complete dominance of the women’s individual podium.The success did not stop there.Saka Habibat Abiola teamed up with Ismail Kabiru in the Mixed Team event, where the duo displayed excellent coordination, composure, and technical execution to claim another gold medal for Kingsmen.
Their victory further reinforced the team’s superiority in the 30-meter Barebow division and demonstrated the depth of talent within the club.
