Federal Government Declares May 27–28 Public Holidays for Eid ul Adha 2026
ABUJA — The Federal Government has declared Wednesday, 27th May, and Thursday, 28th May 2026, as public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid ul Adha.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, in a press release issued on 25th May 2026.
According to the statement, the declaration reflects the government’s respect for the faith and spiritual heritage of Nigerian Muslims joining the global Islamic community in observing the festival.
Eid ul Adha, described as a festival of deep spiritual significance, is rooted in the values of sacrifice, obedience to God, and compassion for others. The minister conveyed the Federal Government’s felicitations to Muslim faithful in Nigeria and the diaspora.
