OAU Senior Lecturer, Segun Aina, Becomes Youngest JAMB Registrar in History
President Bola Tinubu on Thursday appointed 39-year-old Professor Segun Aina as the new JAMB Registrar, succeeding Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose two-term tenure expires on July 31, 2026.
Aina, who turns 40 in July, becomes the youngest person ever to hold the position of JAMB Registrar and one of the youngest professors in his field.
He is a distinguished academic and systems expert with extensive experience in national examination systems, digital infrastructure, and public-sector institutional reform.
A researcher and consultant, he has a keen interest in technology, education, problem-solving, and development.
Aina hails from Otan Ayegbaju in Boluwaduro Local Government Area of Osun State. He obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) in Computer Systems Engineering with Honours from the University of Kent, United Kingdom, in 2008, and a Master of Science (MSc) in Internet Computing and Network Security from Loughborough University in 2009.
In 2010, he completed his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) as a Computer Systems Engineer/Analyst with the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB).
Also in 2010, he co-founded Fluid Click Solutions Ltd, an IT services and engineering project management company.
He later earned a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University.
Until his appointment as JAMB Registrar, he was a senior lecturer in the Computer Science and Engineering Department at Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, where he held several departmental and faculty roles.
Aina has consulted for various private and public organisations, including the Job Creation Unit in the Office of the Vice President, several state governments, and examination bodies. He also has business interests in hospitality, agriculture, printing, capacity building, and technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
He was recently appointed to the pioneer Governing Council of Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Ikere-Ekiti. He is also the author of several peer-reviewed conference and journal papers.
Aina is a COREN-registered engineer and a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Nigerian Computer Society (NCS), Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), and the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET).
He serves as National Financial Secretary of the Otan Ayegbaju Progressive Union and convenes the DSA Initiative for the Support of Education and Entrepreneurship, which promotes access to education and youth enterprise development.
