Oyo Community Begs Akintunde, Sadipe For New Transformer
The Aanuoluwapo community of Ayegun Oleyo in Oluyole local government area of Oyo state has appealed to the duo of the Senator representing the Oyo Central Constituency, Senator Yunus Akintunde and member of House of Representatives, representing Oluyole federal constituency, Hon Tolulope Akande Sadipe to assist in the provision of a new transformer to address persistent electricity challenges in the area.
In a “Save Our Soul” letter to the the federal lawmakers and made available to journalists in Ibadan, signed by members of the executive led by its chairman, Azeez Quadri also known as (JAMOJE), and secretary, Osuntola Pelumi explained that the community had suffered constant power outages due to an old and weak 300 KVA transformer that could no longer meet the electricity needs of residents.
Mr Quadri said the existing transformer was outdated and caused frequent electricity disruptions.
He added that even though the community has raised a little amount from residents, the community still needed an additional N10 to N11 million to buy and install a new transformer.
According to him, the total cost for a new, efficient transformer and its installation is estimated at between N10 million and N11 million.
He stated, “The association is now reaching out to you for assistance in resolving the power crisis affecting homes and businesses.’’
He stressed that the outages had impacted daily life, disrupted small businesses, and created a harsh living environment for residents of the community.
The Chairman said replacing the current transformer with a modern, higher-capacity unit would be the most practical solution to meet the community’s energy needs.
