The Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen in the Afijio local government has pledged its support for the governorship ambition of Olaoluwa Peter Abidemi, popularly called OPA.

The former chairmen led by Hon Dickson Adio and it’s Secretary, Hon. Remi Adeniyi stated this during a meeting with members of the Olaoluwa team led Lekan Shobo Shobowale and held at Fiditi

In his comment, Hon Adio said the group is apolitical because it’s members cut across political divides and its a convergence of the finest grassroots whose goal is to deepen grassroots engagement and participation in the nation’s polity and promoting the sanctity of the local government.”

He added that the association was formed as a platform of former elected chairmen of LGs to contribute to the political development of the Afijio local government based on their grassroots background, connections, and interactions.

Adio, however, stated that members of the association would support Olaoluwa in his aspiration to govern the state.

“Olaoluwa is the son of the soil, and as a result of this, the association would be happy to work and ensure the reality of his gubernatorial ambition.

“We will constantly work in harmony with him and support his activities in a way as his activities.

Responding, Olaoluwa, represented by Shobowale, applauded the former local government bosses for identifying with him and aspiring and extension of their hands of fellowship.

He said that as past leaders who had made great contributions to the development of the grassroots, he would be ready and willing to work with them.

He thanked the association members, assuring that they would be involved in all his campaign programmes and activities.
