Police Service Commision Boss Laments Over Inadequate Funding
The Chairman, Police Service Commission, Hashimu Argungu, says the commission is presently facing twin problems of inadequate funding and surreptitious attempt to hijack its mandate
Argungun disclosed this while receiving special adviswr to the President on policy and coordination and Head, Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit, Bala Usman in his office.
The Chairman noted that commission is grossly underfunded and incapable of effectively and efficiently executing it’s constitutional mandate of Police recruitment, promotion and discipline, adding that this anomaly has worsened by a struggle by different and divergent interests to hijack its mandate and dilute it’s efficiency and effectiveness.
He added that the commission is to leverage on its established policy of accountability and transparency to herald a Police force ready and prepared for the 21st century policing.
Responding, Bala Usman pledged to work to ensure the commission is allowed to execute its constitutional mandate.
